Tell us about Armac Martin? How did the business start?

Established in 1929, we design and manufacture luxury brass cabinet hardware, shelf brackets and mirrors for the world's finest interiors. Dedicated to creating beautiful brass fixtures and fittings for over 90 years in Birmingham, England, our reputation is built on quality with skills passed down from generation to generation. Now a fourth generation family business, we continue to champion British manufacturing and every product is designed in-house and celebrates true craftsmanship and the art of using the finest materials to form products that truly stand the test of time.

Tell us about your product range

Our core product offering is luxury cabinet hardware. Made from solid brass, each piece is hand-finished by our expert polishers. We pride ourselves on offering over 20 different finishes to offer designers and homeowners more choice. We are now expanding our product range to include other brass fixtures such as shelf brackets and hanging wine glass racks so all kitchen accessories can match uniformly in finish and quality. In 2021, we collaborated with interior designer, Sophie Paterson, on a collection of luxury solid brass dressing table mirrors allowing us to reach a new market.

How would you describe your style and design ethos?

Before we manufacture anything new, our product development team thoughtfully design pieces with timeless appeal. Whilst our designers draw influence from current interior trends, it is a purpose to produce designs with longevity that sits at the forefront. Within our offering, our collections cater to a variety of styles from minimal to art deco and traditional to industrial.

What interiors trends do you expect to see over the next year?

Sustainability is a key trend across the industry, and it is definitely increasing as a prerequisite for suppliers and customers. Our in-house Sustainability Committee is continuously making advances in this space to reach our goal of net zero by 2050. In terms of design trends, more thought is going into cabinet hardware and the impact that can have in a kitchen space as well as other furniture items, such as wardrobes or vanity units. We have just launched a matt white finish and can see this trend growing over the next few years in contemporary spaces.

What was the Covid pandemic period like for you as a business?

The Covid pandemic naturally forced people to spend more time at home which created an influx of new projects and renovations. Luckily, like many within our industry, we remained busy. The benefit of manufacturing our products, we have control over the end-to-end process. We implemented new processes and automations to enable us to increase output, reduce lead time and meet demand.

How have you enjoyed working with Hudson Home?

We have loved working with Hudson Home. Their homewares are beautifully sourced and curated and have elevated the styling on many of our photoshoots. It’s also lovely working with and supporting a local business.

What is your best piece of advice for anyone approaching a new interiors project; what is the best starting point?

We would recommend budgeting for the smaller details. When you come to the end of the project, it’s the small details and finishes that can transform a whole project from a great one to an exceptional one.

What current Hudson Home products do you love?

With warmer weather on the way, we are swooning over the outdoor fire lanterns and Eloise planters to get us ready for outdoor living!

What’s next for the business?

We have just launched our matt white finish and can’t wait to see this filter through new projects. We are also looking to expand into other product areas so watch this space…!

It’s clear to see why Armac Martin products are found in some of the world’s finest kitchens and interiors and it’s a joy for us to work with them.
