Baked Camembert with Figs & Honey
This is the perfect easy appetiser that I can guarantee everyone will enjoy, serve with a crisp white Sauvignon on a Summer's evening. I just love the intense nutty flavour of the camembert mixed with the sweetness of the figs and honey, you just can't go wrong.
There are a lot of variations on ingredients you can add, but I prefer to keep it simple, adding fresh seasonal ingredients like figs and rosemary from the garden.
Ingredients
- Whole Camembert - Le Rustic or similar
- Rosemary sprigs
- Salt & Pepper
- Fresh Figs
- Honey
- Crackers or fresh crusty bread
Firstly take the cheese out of the wrapper and score the top with a knife in a criss-cross pattern. Rewrap in baking paper and place back in the wooden container it came in.
Sprinkle with fresh rosemary, black pepper and salt and cover back up with the edges of the baking paper.
Bake in the oven for approximately 15 mins on fan 170c until gooey. Beware if you cook it for too long it goes hard and there's no turning back - I've learnt from experience!
Remove from the oven and open up the paper. Serve with crusty bread or crackers, top with the figs and drizzle with honey. Or if you want just dunk!
