Create your outdoor haven

Is there anything more satisfying than sitting in your garden as the days get warmer, with a good book, sipping on a glass of something cold? My mind always turns to rearranging my garden at this time of year so I thought I'd write down a few of my thoughts on how to get the best out of your outdoor space.

Start off with reviewing the space you have available and how you want to use it. Do you see yourself lounging on a sofa in the evening or chatting round a dining table with friends? What will make the best use of the space you have available?
Focus on Durability: Here at Hudson Home we stand for timeless items and garden furniture is no different. If you want it to last in the elements, it is important to choose the right material. My main choices would be: weather-resistant wicker, aluminum, teak, or wrought iron. The choice will mostly depend on your style.
Outdoor lighting is so important and can make or break the ambience. I simply love Lanterns and would have them everywhere if I could! Lighting is so important both inside and out and, on a warm Summer night, I find it so comforting to sit outside with just lantern light. My current favourite is this portable metal and glass Cosiscoop lantern.
Outdoor furniture has moved on such a lot in the last few years and comfort is now a key factor. I love scattering our cushions outdoors for some extra comfort. Add in our outdoor footrests and simply sit back, relax and zzzzzz.
I have recently discovered the joys of using outdoor mirrors for a number of reasons: to reflect light, create the illusion of space simply as a focal point. Window pane mirrors are currently very on trend for their decorative impact.
