Festive Five Minutes with Toby's Home

As festive fever ramps up, we thought we’d steal some moments of calm to talk with some of our interviewees from 2022 about their festive plans and preparations.

You might remember, we interviewed Toby back in the summer and introduced you to his enviably chic sense of style and his passion for creating homely, inviting spaces and magic moments. View here:

We caught up with him again recently to chat about what Christmas will look like for him and his family this year, as well as getting the scoop on his favourite festive Hudson Home buys for the season.

What would you pick as a gift (and who would it be for) from the Hudson Home website this Christmas?

It would have to be a throw. I love both the Elgin and Brampton Check throw, and it’s the perfect gift for the winter months ahead.

What would you love to find under the tree from Hudson Home this year?

Well, I love vases, so for me the Evida vase would be just perfect!

How would you describe your festive decor style?

It changes slightly year on year, but always has an underlying tone of traditionalism, but a little more muted. This year I’ve added hints of rust and cranberry into the décor.

What are your Christmas decoration ‘must haves’ from Hudson Home this season?

I luckily got my hands on a faux cedar wreath before it went out of stock, which I just love, as well as the brass cone bells. But, my favourite piece this Christmas is the gold mistletoe ornament.

Still in stock for now!

What will Christmas look like for you and your family this year?

My husband and I are spending Christmas with family for the first time in 3 years! Last year was our wedding, so we were away, and the year before we were unable to. So we’re very excited to spend it at my parents house, with lots of food and wine!

What Christmas traditions can you not be without?

Each Christmas eve, Mikey and I go for a hearty lunch, and that evening watch The Grinch with hot chocolates!

Interiors wise, what trends are you expecting to see in 2023?

Much more of the same really… With the ever growing concerns for our environment people are looking for more sustainable ways of keeping interest in their homes. Upcycling, antiquing, and adding just small décor updates with the seasons. That said, I definitely think richer, bolder colours are making a comeback. Jewel-toned reds and greens are something I’m loving!

Which trends or styles will you be embracing?

I think just being a little braver with my décor, as I am with clients. We’ll likely be making a big move in just a few months time (if all goes to plan) and so it’ll be exciting to experiment more with pattern and colour!
