The Beauty of Books

We get so many questions about the books we style our products with and so it only felt right to create a blog post to share some of our all-time favourites with you, along with some effortless tips on how to incorporate and style them throughout your home.

Books are an essential styling element and really are one of those things that help to showcase the personalities of the people living in a space and there are so many ways to display them in your home.

What’s on our reading list?

Being the interior lovers that we are, it will come as no surprise that we love nothing more than curling up on the sofa and flicking through the pages of a beautiful book filled with beautiful inspiration.

Claire loves…

  •     Simplicity by Nancy Braithwaite
  •     This is Home by Natalie Walton
  •     The Kinfolk Home by Nathan Williams
  •     Interior Portraits by Victoria Hagan
  •     Living with Pattern by Rebecca Atwood
  •     Monochrome by Hillary Robertson

Styling with books

From a stack on your shelf to a couple of carefully placed coffee table reads, the possibilities really are endless when it comes to styling with books…

In The Living Room

Perhaps one of the most popular places to style your books is on a coffee table - and rightly so, after all, coffee table books have some of the most decorative covers and so having them pride of place in the centre of the room is a simple way to style them. Choose books with colourful covers to create a subtle statement against marble or wooden tables. If you have a larger coffee table, you may want to place your books on a tray to keep them together.

In The Kitchen

Naturally the kitchen is the perfect place to show off your favourite foodie cookbooks!  If you are lucky enough to have shelving in your kitchen, then stacking your books always looks neat alongside some potted plants to add a refreshing touch of greenery. If you’re not sure where to begin styling your kitchen shelves then discover the 6 steps to effortlessly style your shelves over in last month’s blog.

In The Bathroom

If your idea of the perfect night in is a bath filled with bubbles, a glass of wine and the relaxing ritual of reading a book in the tub, then keeping some of your most-loved reads in the bathroom either on a side table or on a shelf is a must. We’d recommend paperbacks in here and selecting those you don’t mind getting a little wet! If you layer a few on a table, finish off with a simple candle on the top; our Lavender and Bergamot fragrance is a must for unwinding!

In The Bedroom

If you happen to be anything like us, then your bedside is likely brimming with your current reading list. Keep your books lined up, or, if you have space for a dedicated bookshelf to house your collection of stories, arrange them by size and colour to keep things looking organised. A bookcase creates a feature in itself, so keep accessories to a minimum and choose similar, smaller items to space out like our fluted glass vases filled with sweet eucalyptus sprigs.

We hope you’ve found some new reading material and inspired you to think about how to use the beauty of books to style your home. Don’t forget to share your snaps with us over on Instagram and #myhudsonhome
