Sophisticated Styling for Autumn

Sophisticated Styling for Autumn

The evenings are starting to draw in, the weather is changing and the cravings for a pumpkin spiced latte are starting to hit more frequently.

As we head into Autumn, the season of crunchy leaves, cosy blankets and some halloween irreverence, we thought we’d share some of our styling and interior essentials for this time of year.

If we nod to the Autumn/Winter 2023 interior trends highlighted in recent weeks, we see a glorious cluster of contrary styles from 70s Interiors to Mediterranean stylings.  We aren’t trend hunters here at Hudson Home, we know what we like and we know what you like to see from us; however, there were a couple of trends that elicited the nod of approval from the Hh team.

The number one most searched for trend on Pinterest heading into autumn is Farmhouse Interiors, a concept that fills us with warmth and cosy vibes as it sits alongside another favourite point of inspiration of ours (which landed in second spot) and that is all things Natural and Nature Inspired.  Let's break it down….

Farmhouse Interiors:

Say the word ‘farmhouse’ and for us it conjures fireside warmth, thick blankets and well loved, cosy sofas.  The Farmhouse style is unfussy and functional at its core; well used and well loved pieces that make a house a home are what take centre stage.  A love for the simple things and an irrefutable love of the outdoors are the biggest influences on farmhouse interiors.

With this in mind, it’s not difficult to echo this style in your own home, whether you go all in on the rustic farmhouse vibes or marry this inspiration with a more modern approach that maybe moves the trend into scandi territory.

Nature Inspired Interiors:

As a starting point for so much creativity of all types, nature really works hard when it comes to giving us inspiration year on year.  This autumn, the trend is all about references and subtle nods; something we do well here at Hudson Home.  Our take on the Nature Inspired trend is not an abundance of indoor planters and foliage, but instead a leaning towards natural materials, textures and highlight pieces.

Natural light is an incredible help throughout the year and is a brilliant way of bringing the natural world into your interior space; compliment this with natural materials like wood, rattan and bamboo this season.  Nature inspired soft furnishings along with textural details will add depth to the trend this season.  Also, don’t forget about natural foliage; make it faux to get the look without the upkeep.

Conjure up a Chic Halloween:

Of course, we can’t talk about autumn styling without a nod to how to style up the spooky season. Our bestselling pumpkins have made a comeback this month and we can’t wait to see how you style them up.

A perfectly sophisticated decor accessory, these fabric pumpkins make the perfect finishing touch alongside some foraged foliage or pinecones or clustered in a rattan tray or wooden bowl.

How will you style yours?

Ps. The bats that we snuck into our styling last year were a HUGE hit, so they’re back again this year.  Unfortunately they aren’t part of our autumn collection like the lovely pumpkins are, but you can bag yours here:
